Who We Are

ABOUT NAWIRI

NAWIRI is a women- and youth-led African organization working to build a future where girls and women are healthy, educated, safe, economically empowered, and able to exercise their rights and shape their own futures.

Beginning in Kenya and rooted in community experience, we design and implement programmes that respond to the interconnected barriers girls and women face across health, education, violence and discrimination, and economic participation.

We combine community action with research, advocacy, technology, partnerships, and systems strengthening to create change that lasts beyond individual projects.

🌍 Our Vision

A just and inclusive Africa where every girl and woman can realize her rights and thrive in safe, healthy, equitable, and prosperous communities.

🎯 Our Mission

To advance the health, education, safety, rights, and economic empowerment of girls and women through feminist, community-led solutions that expand opportunity, strengthen systems, and transform inequality.

Our Theory of Change

When girls and women have the health and bodily autonomy, education, safety, rights, resources, and opportunities they need to thrive and when the systems around them are responsive and equitable they can make informed choices, exercise greater agency, participate fully in society, and shape their own futures.

NAWIRI creates this change by combining community-led programme implementation with research and evidence, advocacy, technology, youth leadership, partnerships, and systems strengthening.

We address immediate barriers while working to transform the policies, institutions, social norms, and structural inequalities that reproduce disadvantage across generations.

The future we are building

Healthy. Educated. Safe. Empowered.

Girls and women with the freedom, resources, voice, and opportunity to thrive.
